Conor Harrington
Born 1980, Cork, Ireland

In Conor Harrington’s work, euphoria is accompanied by tectonic shifts of substance and surface. Men, often elegantly attired in the exquisite costume of an eighteenth-century libertine, are thrown into an abstract ’scape, agitated by drips and smears, scorched by an intensity of chroma. Activated by a chorus of accidents, his painting attempts to both seize and separate the entanglement of abstraction and figuration that invigorates his surface with an almost feral force.
