Leo Costelloe’s multidisciplinary practice spans installation, film and metal work, often working with glass, silver and hair. The contest between the nature of these materials and the recurring feminine motifs he moulds them to is quite deliberate. Their contrast somehow speaking to both the beauty and banality of (re)presentation, as well as to the innate possibility for transformation that these objects offer. Hard meets soft; heavy meets light; function now detained by the whimsy of ornamentation.
